Brackley Vision Projects - Piazza
Brackley Vision has worked closely with South Northants Council
(SNC), Northamptonshire County Council Highways Department, and Atkins, NCC's preferred Partner to undertake a redesign of the Town Centre. The idea was first suggested during the Healthcheck, conducted in 2003. Following an award of £350,000 by the Office of the
Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), and a further £150,000 from the Sub-regional Strategic Partnership, together with assistance from NCC, the work has been completed over the last 12 months. The scheme has involved a reallocation of parking spaces, allowing an overall increase in town centre parking, and the relocation of the War Memorial, giving it pride of place on the pedestrian area. New and improved lighting has transformed the area, highlighting both the Town Hall and the War Memorial. The space now accommodates the Friday Market and Farmers Market without interruption to any car parking. Future Community and Civic events such as Remembrance Day Parade and the Christmas Carol Service will also be able to be held in an improved surround.
