Brackley Vision - What Are We?
The Market Town Initiative has been set up to help revitalise the role of the market town as a rural service centre in the 21 st century. An important aspect of the initiative is that it aims to involve the local community in making decisions and taking responsibility for the future of their town.
The aims of the Countryside Agency's Market Town's initiative is to:
"Promote local solutions and help market towns to become places where people from the town and surrounding countryside can:
- Buy most of the things they need
- Obtain a range of basic services, such as legal advice and libraries
- Find housing of all types- rental and for purchase
- Have a choice of jobs, particularly in business related to the products of the surrounding countryside
- Obtain the training and education they need
- Enjoy eating out, the cinema, theatre and musical events"
Brackley Vision, (formerly the Brackley Market Town Partnership), aims to fulfil as many of the above objectives as is practically possible, by creating a shared vision of the future identity, function and quality of life in Brackley which meets the needs of its residents and the people it serves in the surrounding area.
